Hulu + Live TV is a streaming service that gives you the best of two worlds: live television — including local news, sports, and network shows — plus access to Hulu's full on-demand catalog of movies and TV series. It works through an app, not a cable box, so there are no installation appointments and no long-term contracts.
The current price is around $83 per month for the ad-supported plan. That includes 90+ live channels: local ABC, CBS, NBC, and Fox affiliates (in most markets), plus cable staples like ESPN, CNN, HGTV, Bravo, Food Network, and Disney Channel. The subscription also bundles Disney+ and ESPN+ at no extra cost, giving your whole household access to Disney movies and live sports on ESPN+.
Every Hulu + Live TV account comes with 75 hours of cloud DVR storage so you can record live games, news programs, or TV shows to watch later. You can upgrade to unlimited DVR storage for an extra fee if you record frequently.
To get started, go to hulu.com and sign up for the Hulu + Live TV plan. Download the Hulu app on your device — it works on Roku, Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Samsung and LG smart TVs, Xbox, PlayStation, iPhone, iPad, and Android phones, or you can watch in any web browser.
Once you are in, tap the Live TV tab to see what is airing right now across all your channels. The Guide view shows a traditional channel grid, similar to a cable TV guide. Tap any channel to start watching, or tap a future show to set a recording.
To record something, find it in the guide or search for it, then tap Record. Your recordings appear in My Stuff. To watch recorded content, go to My Stuff and select Recordings.
For add-on channels, go to Account > Add-ons. You can add HBO Max, Showtime, Starz, and others for an additional monthly fee. The Disney Bundle upgrade combines Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+ into one login at a slight discount.
Hulu + Live TV allows streaming on two screens at the same time. If your household needs more, you can upgrade to the Unlimited Screens plan for use at home. Managing profiles lets each family member have their own watchlist and recommendations.
You can cancel any time from your Account settings — no cancellation fees. Compared to YouTube TV (similarly priced around $73–83 per month), Hulu has a richer on-demand library while YouTube TV offers unlimited DVR storage on all plans.
