    How to Use Samsung Galaxy AI Features on Your Phone

    Samsung Galaxy AI (Galaxy AI) adds AI-powered tools to newer Galaxy phones — including Circle to Search, Live Translate, Chat Assist, and photo editing. Here is what each feature does.

    Check if your phone has Galaxy AI

    Galaxy AI is available on Galaxy S24, S25 (all models), Galaxy Z Fold 5/6, Z Flip 5/6, and some A-series phones with the AI badge. Go to Settings and search "Galaxy AI" — if settings appear, you have it. Galaxy AI also requires One UI 6.1 or later.

    Use Circle to Search

    Open any app — a website, social media, video, email. Press and hold the home button (or the navigation pill at the bottom) until the screen dims slightly. Now draw a circle, scribble, or tap on anything you want to search. A Google search panel slides up with results for whatever you circled.

    Quick Tip: Circle to Search works on products you see in videos, text in screenshots, plants or animals in photos, and virtually anything on screen.

    Set up Live Translate for phone calls

    Go to SettingsAdvanced FeaturesLive Translate. Toggle it ON and select the languages you want (your language and the language of the person you are calling). During a call, tap the Live Translate icon that appears on the call screen to activate. Both voices will be translated in real time.

    Warning

    Live Translate works on regular phone calls, not on third-party apps like WhatsApp or FaceTime.

    Use Generative Edit to clean up photos

    Open any photo in the Galaxy Gallery app. Tap the pencil icon → tap "Generative Edit." Tap and hold any object or person you want to remove. AI will fill in the background automatically. You can also tap "Remaster" on any photo to enhance sharpness and color.

    Try Chat Assist when messaging

    While typing a message in any messaging app, look for a small star (✦) or Galaxy AI icon in your keyboard. Tap it to see options: rephrase the message to sound more professional, more casual, or translate it to another language. Galaxy AI rewrites the text — tap "Send" when you are happy with it.

    Samsung Galaxy AI is a collection of AI-powered features built into newer Samsung Galaxy phones (Galaxy S24 series and newer, some A-series phones, and select older flagships via software update). These features are free to use and built directly into the phone — no separate app required.

    Here are the most useful Galaxy AI features:

    Circle to Search

    : Hold the home button while looking at anything on your screen — a photo, some text, a product in a video — then draw a circle around it. Google searches for it instantly. No need to screenshot and search separately.

    Live Translate

    : During a phone call, Galaxy AI can translate both sides of the conversation in real time, displaying text translations and even speaking them aloud. Supports 13 languages.

    Chat Assist

    : While typing a message, AI can help you rewrite it in a more formal, friendly, or casual tone. Also translates messages.

    Note Assist

    : In Samsung Notes, AI can summarize long notes, create templates, and format your writing.

    Transcript Assist

    : In Samsung's Voice Recorder app, AI can transcribe recordings and create summaries.

    Photo Editing (Generative Edit)

    : Edit photos by removing objects, moving subjects, and filling in backgrounds using AI.

    Interpreter

    : Real-time two-language conversation on a split screen — useful when talking to someone who speaks a different language in person.

    Galaxy AI features are available in Settings → Advanced Features → Samsung DeX or Galaxy AI on supported devices.
