    1

    Create a Free Raise Account

    ~21s
Go to raise.com or download the Raise app from the App Store or Google Play. Click "Sign up" and create an account using your email address and a password. You will also add a payment method — credit card, debit card, or PayPal — which is used when you buy a gift card. Creating an account is free and there are no subscription fees.
    2

Search for a Store You Shop At

    ~31s
In the search bar at the top of the Raise app or website, type the name of a store you frequently shop at — for example, "Amazon," "Target," or "Home Depot." Raise will show all currently available gift cards for that retailer, listed with their face value, the discounted price you will pay, and the savings percentage. Higher discount percentages mean greater savings.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: Check Raise before making a large planned purchase — buying a discounted gift card first can save you a meaningful amount on a purchase you were going to make anyway.

    3

Choose Between Electronic and Physical Cards

    ~20s
For each listing, Raise shows whether the card is electronic (delivered digitally, usually within minutes) or physical (mailed to your address, taking three to five business days). For most everyday shopping and online purchases, choose an electronic card — it arrives faster and you can use it right away. Physical cards are useful for giving as gifts.
    4

    Complete Your Purchase

    ~21s
Tap the gift card listing you want to buy, review the face value and price, then tap "Buy now." Confirm your payment method and shipping preference, then complete the purchase. Electronic cards are sent to your registered email address and also stored in the "My cards" section of your Raise account. Keep the card number and PIN — you will need both to use the card.
    5

Use Your Gift Card at Checkout

    ~22s
For online purchases, copy the gift card number and PIN from your Raise account and paste them into the gift card payment field at the store's checkout page. For in-store purchases, open the Raise app, go to "My cards," tap the card you want to use, and show the barcode or card number to the cashier. The cashier will scan or manually enter the card number.
    6

Sell Your Own Unused Gift Cards

    ~34s
If you have a gift card you are not going to use, you can list it for sale on Raise. Open the app, tap "Sell cards," and enter the retailer name, the card's face value, and the card number and PIN. Raise will suggest a competitive selling price. When someone buys your card, Raise transfers the payment to your Raise account, minus a small commission fee. You can cash out to PayPal or a bank account.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: List unused gift cards on Raise as soon as you know you will not use them — some retailers' cards are more in demand during holiday seasons.

Raise is an online marketplace where real people buy and sell gift cards at prices below their face value. If someone received a $50 Applebee's gift card as a gift but never eats there, they can sell it on Raise for, say, $42. The buyer gets a $50 card for $42 — saving $8 — and the seller gets some cash back from a card they would never have used.

This creates a win-win situation. As a buyer on Raise, you can find gift cards for stores you shop regularly — think Target, Amazon, Best Buy, Starbucks, Gap, or Lowe's — at 3% to 25% below the amount printed on the card. The discount varies by store and how eager sellers are to unload their cards.

Gift cards on Raise come in two forms. Electronic cards are delivered immediately to your email or Raise account — you get a card number and PIN you can type in at checkout online or show the cashier on your phone screen. Physical cards are mailed to you and take several days to arrive. Electronic cards are faster and more convenient for most purchases.

Raise verifies every card before listing it for sale, and they offer a money-back guarantee: if you buy a card and the balance is wrong or the card does not work, Raise will replace or refund it within a defined window (check current policy on their website). This protection makes buying from strangers much less risky.

Raise is available as a website (raise.com) and as an app for iPhone and Android.
