    1

Download the app and create an account

    ~17s
Search for "Grubhub" in the App Store (iPhone) or Play Store (Android) and install the free app. Open it and tap "Sign Up." Enter your email address, create a password, and enter your delivery address. Grubhub uses your address to show you which restaurants deliver to your location.
    2

    Add a payment method

    ~15s
Before your first order, tap the account icon (person symbol) in the bottom-right corner, then tap "Payment methods." Tap "Add payment method" and enter your credit card or debit card number, expiration date, and security code. You can also link a PayPal account.
    3

Browse restaurants and pick what you want

    ~27s
The home screen shows restaurants that deliver to your address. You can sort by cuisine type (pizza, Chinese, Mexican, etc.), rating, or delivery time. Tap a restaurant to see its full menu. Tap any item to see a description and customize it (like choosing a side dish), then tap "Add to order."

    Quick Tip

Look for the "30 minutes or less" filter if you are hungry and want food quickly. Also check the restaurant's estimated delivery time before you start adding items.

    4

Review your cart and place the order

    ~28s
When you are done adding items, tap "View cart" at the bottom. Review what you have added and the total cost including fees. If you have a promo code, enter it in the "Promo code" box. When everything looks right, tap "Place order." You will get an order confirmation by email and in the app.

    Warning

Always review the full total — including delivery fees and service fees — before placing the order. These can add $5 to $10 or more on top of the food cost.

    5

    Track your delivery

    ~17s
After placing your order, you will see a live map showing where your driver is. The app will send you notifications when the restaurant accepts your order, when the driver picks it up, and when they are getting close to your address. Most deliveries arrive within the estimated time shown at checkout.

Grubhub is an app that connects you with local restaurants that deliver food straight to your home. You browse a menu on your phone, tap what you want, pay through the app, and a delivery driver brings your food to your door — usually within 30 to 60 minutes.

Grubhub works with thousands of restaurants across the United States, including large chains like McDonald's, Chipotle, and Olive Garden, as well as local neighborhood restaurants. What is available depends on where you live and what is near you.

When you place an order, you can track the delivery driver on a map in real time, similar to watching a rideshare car on its way to you. You will also get notifications when your food is picked up and when the driver is nearby.

There are fees involved with food delivery apps. Grubhub typically charges a delivery fee (usually $1 to $6), a service fee based on your order total, and sometimes a small order fee if your subtotal is below a minimum. Prices can also be higher on delivery apps than ordering directly from the restaurant. It is a good idea to check the total before confirming your order.

Grubhub has a membership program called Grubhub+ for around $9.99 per month that waives delivery fees on most orders. If you order delivery frequently, it can save money. Otherwise, you can use Grubhub without any membership.

The app is available on iPhone and Android. You will need to create a free Grubhub account and add a payment method (credit card, debit card, or PayPal) before you can place your first order.
