    How to Use the Walmart App for Grocery Pickup and Savings

    Use the Walmart app to schedule grocery pickup, find deals, and get the most out of your Walmart+ membership — all from your phone.

    Download and set up the app

    Search for "Walmart" in the App Store (iPhone) or Play Store (Android) and install the free app. Open it and tap "Sign In" or "Create Account." You will need an email address and a password. If you have shopped on Walmart.com before, use the same login.

    Set your store

    Tap the location icon or "Set store" at the top of the app. Allow the app to use your location, or type your zip code. The app will show you the nearest Walmart stores. Tap your preferred store to select it. This tells the app which store's inventory to show you.

    Shop for groceries

    Tap "Grocery" at the bottom of the screen. Browse by category (produce, dairy, meat, etc.) or use the search bar to find specific items. When you find something you want, tap "Add to cart." You can add as many items as you need before checking out.

    Quick Tip

    Use the "Reorder" feature if you have ordered before — it shows your previous items so you can add your regular staples without searching.

    Schedule your pickup time

    When you are done adding items, tap your cart icon and then "Checkout." Choose "Pickup" as your fulfillment option. You will see a calendar with available time slots — choose the day and time that works best for you. Same-day pickup is often available if you order a few hours in advance.

    Warning

    Pickup slots fill up quickly on weekends. Try to schedule early in the week if your schedule allows.

    Pick up your order

    Drive to the Walmart grocery pickup area (usually marked with signs on the side of the building). Open the app and tap "I'm on my way" so staff can prepare your order. When you arrive, tap "I'm here" and enter your parking spot number. A Walmart employee will bring your bags to your car.

    Check the app after pickup — if any items were out of stock, you will see substitutions listed. You can approve or decline them before leaving.

    The Walmart app makes it possible to shop for groceries without walking every aisle. You can browse items on your phone, add them to your cart, and then pick them up at the store without ever going inside. A Walmart employee collects your items and brings them right to your car.

    This is called Walmart Grocery Pickup, and it is free for all Walmart shoppers — no special membership required for the basic pickup service. You can also use the app for delivery to your home.

    The app also shows you Walmart's current deals, rollbacks (temporary price cuts), and clearance items. You can scan barcodes in the store to check prices, compare sizes, and read product reviews.

    If you have a Walmart+ membership (a paid subscription, currently around $12.95 per month), you get free delivery on most orders over $35, a Paramount+ streaming subscription, fuel discounts at Walmart and Murphy gas stations, and other benefits.

    You do not need a Walmart+ membership to use the app or to do grocery pickup. The membership is optional and adds extra benefits on top of the free features.

    The app works on iPhone and Android phones. You will need a Walmart account to place orders, which is free to create. If you shop at Walmart regularly, the app can save you a lot of time — especially for weekly grocery runs where you are buying the same items each week.
