How to Use Papa for Senior Companionship

Book a "Papa Pal" for in-person help with errands, tech support, light housekeeping, or just company.

    1

Check if your plan covers Papa

    ~15s
Call the number on the back of your Medicare Advantage card and ask "Does my plan include Papa visits?" Many Humana, UnitedHealthcare, and Aetna plans do. If not, Papa also offers private-pay memberships.
    2

    Download the Papa app

    ~15s
Install Papa from the App Store or Play Store, or call Papa at 1-800-348-7951 to sign up by phone. Family members can also download the Care Circle app to schedule visits for a parent.
    3

    Schedule your first visit

    ~15s
Tap "Request a visit." Pick a date, time, and what you need help with — grocery shopping, a ride to the doctor, changing light bulbs, or just having a conversation.
    4

    Meet your Papa Pal

    ~15s
Every Papa Pal has a background check and orientation. Before the visit, you see their photo and a short bio. At the door, they will show you their Papa ID before coming in.
    5

    Rate the visit afterward

    ~15s
The app asks you to rate the visit from 1 to 5 stars. If you like a particular Pal, request them again next time — Papa will try to match you.

Papa is a service that sends a friendly, vetted helper ("Papa Pal") to an older adult's home to run errands, do light chores, help with technology, or keep them company. Many Medicare Advantage plans cover Papa visits at no cost to the member.

The Papa Pals are not medical professionals — think of them more like a helpful grandchild who shows up when you ask.
