How to Use Hoopla for Free Library Movies and Books

Stream movies, TV shows, audiobooks, music, and comics for free with your library card — no waitlists.

    1

Check if your library offers Hoopla

    ~15s
Go to hoopladigital.com and type your library's name. Not every library participates — if yours does not, your card will not work.
    2

    Download the app

    ~15s
Install Hoopla from the App Store, Play Store, Roku, Fire TV, or Apple TV. Hoopla works on almost every device you already own.
    3

Sign in with your library card

    ~15s
Open Hoopla, tap "Sign up," and enter your library card number and PIN. You will also create a Hoopla account with an email and password.
    4

    Borrow and stream

    ~15s
Browse movies, TV, music, e-books, audiobooks, or comics. Tap "Borrow" on any item to start watching, listening, or reading right away — no waitlist, no late fees.
    5

    Watch your monthly limit

    ~15s
Most libraries give you 5 to 10 borrows per month, and the count resets on the first of each month. Borrows return themselves after 3 to 21 days depending on the type, so you never pay fees.
