Cash App by Block (formerly Square) lets you send and receive money, invest, and buy Bitcoin. For most people, the main use is sending money to friends and family. Download Cash App, enter your phone number or email, verify with a code, and create a unique $cashtag (your Cash App username).
Link a funding source: tap your profile icon, then "Linked Banks." Enter your bank routing and account numbers or a debit card. Bank transfers are free; credit cards charge 3%.
To send money: tap the "quot; on the home screen, type the amount, tap "Pay," enter the recipient's $cashtag, phone number, or email, add a note, and confirm. Money comes from your Cash App balance first, then your linked bank.
When you receive money, tap "Cash Out" to transfer to your bank. Standard transfers (1-3 business days) are free; instant costs 0.5% to 1.75%.
Safety is critical. Never send money to someone you do not know. Never share your sign-in code with anyone. Cash App support will never ask for your PIN or sign-in code. If someone promises to "flip" your money, it is always a scam. Turn on Security Lock in settings to require Face ID, Touch ID, or PIN every time you open the app.
