Smart light bulbs let you control lighting from your phone, set schedules, change colors, and dim — all without getting up. Popular brands include Philips Hue, LIFX, Wyze, and TP-Link Kasa. WiFi bulbs (Wyze, LIFX, Kasa) connect directly to your WiFi — no extra equipment needed. Hub-based bulbs (Philips Hue) require a small hub that plugs into your router.

For WiFi bulbs: screw the bulb in and make sure the wall switch is ON (smart bulbs need constant power). Download the manufacturer's app, create an account, tap "Add Device," and follow the pairing instructions — the bulb usually blinks to confirm pairing mode.

Once connected, you can turn lights on/off, adjust brightness, change color temperature (warm for evenings, cool for working), set schedules, and create "scenes" for different activities.

For voice control, link your smart bulb account in the Alexa or Google Home app. Then say "Alexa, turn off the living room light" or "Hey Google, dim the bedroom to 50%."

Leave wall switches ON at all times with smart bulbs. If the switch is off, the bulb loses power and cannot respond to commands. Consider a smart switch cover to prevent accidental switch-offs.
