Setting up a new Android phone takes about 15-20 minutes. Whether this is your first Android or you are upgrading from an older phone, this guide walks you through every step.

Turn on your phone by holding the power button until the screen lights up. Select your language and connect to your WiFi network by selecting it and entering the password.

The phone asks if you want to copy data from another device. If you have an old Android phone, you can transfer using a cable (if included) or wirelessly. The setup wizard walks you through this. If you are coming from an iPhone, you can use the "Switch to Android" option to transfer contacts, photos, and some data.

Sign in with your Google account (the same one you use for Gmail). If you do not have one, create a free Google account during setup. Your Google account syncs your contacts, calendar, photos, and app purchases across all your devices.

Set up a screen lock for security: choose PIN, pattern, or password, and set up fingerprint unlock if your phone has a reader. Enable Google's "Find My Device" so you can locate your phone if lost.

Once at the home screen, open the Google Play Store and download your essential apps: your bank's app, WhatsApp, social media, and anything else you use. Sign in to each with your existing accounts.

Check for software updates: Settings → System → Software Update. Installing the latest update ensures you have the newest security patches and features.
