How to Set Up Apple Family Sharing

Share Apple subscriptions, purchases, photos, and locations with up to five family members — all from one Apple ID.

    1

    Open Family Sharing settings

    ~15s
On the iPhone of the person who will be the organizer, open Settings, tap your name at the top, then tap Family Sharing. Tap Set Up Your Family.
    2

Pick what you want to share

    ~15s
Apple will ask if you want to share subscriptions, purchases, location, or screen time. You can pick all of them now or turn any on later.
    3

    Invite family members

    ~15s
Tap Invite People and enter their phone numbers or Apple ID email addresses. They will get a message with a link to join the family.
    4

    Add a child under 13

    ~15s
Tap Create an Account for a Child from the Family Sharing screen. You will need the child's birthday and your permission as a parent — this gives them their own Apple ID with safety limits.
    5

    Check shared subscriptions

    ~15s
Go back to Settings, tap your name, then Subscriptions. Any subscription that supports sharing — like Apple Music Family or iCloud+ — will now show "Shared with Family" under the name.

Apple Family Sharing lets up to six people share Apple subscriptions (iCloud, Apple Music, Apple TV+) and App Store purchases without paying multiple times. It also includes location sharing and parental controls for kids.

One person acts as the "family organizer" and invites everyone else. Each person keeps their own Apple ID, photos, and messages private — only the shared items are visible to the family.
