What Is the Samsung Galaxy Ring and How to Use It

The Samsung Galaxy Ring tracks your sleep, activity, and heart rate from your finger — here's what it does and how to set it up.

    1

Charge and size the ring before first use

    ~38s
The Galaxy Ring comes in a charging case (similar to earbuds). Before wearing it, charge the case and ring fully using the included USB-C cable — this takes about 80 minutes. Samsung sells the ring in sizes 5 through 15. If you ordered online, Samsung typically ships a sizing kit first so you can find the right fit. Wear the ring on whichever finger feels comfortable — most people choose their index or middle finger on their non-dominant hand.

    Quick Tip

A properly fitted Galaxy Ring should feel snug but not tight. You should be able to slide it off with gentle effort. If it leaves a red mark or feels numb, try the next size up.

    2

Set up the Samsung Health app

    ~26s
Download the free Samsung Health app from the Google Play Store (it works on Samsung and non-Samsung Android phones running Android 11 or later). Open the app and sign in with your Samsung account — or create a free one at samsung.com/us/account. Once signed in, tap the "Ring" icon or go to the Devices section and select "Add device." Hold your ring near your phone; it will connect automatically over Bluetooth and pair within about 30 seconds.
    3

Wear it overnight to track your sleep

    ~33s
The Galaxy Ring does its best work while you sleep. Wear it to bed each night and in the morning, open Samsung Health to see your Sleep Score (0–100), time spent in each sleep stage (light, deep, REM), and your Energy Score for the day. The Energy Score combines sleep quality, resting heart rate, and activity level into one number from 1–10 that tells you how recovered your body is.

    Quick Tip

Keep the ring on your finger with the sensors (small bumps) facing toward your palm — that side faces inward toward your body and gives the most accurate readings.

    4

    Check your daily health dashboard

    ~34s
The Samsung Health home screen shows your steps, active calories, heart rate, and sleep data in one place. Tap any card to see the full history. The app can also detect irregular heart rhythm and high or low heart rate and send you a notification — go to Samsung HealthSettingsNotifications to turn these on. These alerts are not medical diagnoses, but they can prompt you to check in with your doctor.

    Warning

The Galaxy Ring is a wellness device, not a medical device. Its readings should not be used to diagnose or treat any health condition. Always consult your doctor for medical concerns.

The Samsung Galaxy Ring is a small titanium ring worn on your finger that tracks your health around the clock. It measures sleep quality, steps, heart rate, and even calculates an overall "Energy Score" each morning so you know how ready your body is for the day. It works with Samsung phones but also with many Android phones through the Samsung Health app. Because it sits on your finger instead of your wrist, many people find it more comfortable to wear all day and especially at night while sleeping.
