Peacock is NBCUniversal's streaming service, and one of the few that offers a genuinely useful free tier. With a free account, you get access to thousands of hours of shows and movies without paying anything or entering a credit card.
The free tier includes classic NBC shows like Law & Order, The Office, Parks and Recreation, and Downton Abbey. It also includes news content, some sports highlights, and a large library of movies. You will see ads on the free tier, which is the tradeoff for not paying.
If you upgrade to Peacock Premium ($7.99/month), you get more content including live NBC sports, Sunday Night Football, WWE, Premier League soccer, and hit series like The Bear, Bravo shows (Real Housewives, Below Deck), and exclusive Peacock originals. There is also an ad-free tier for $13.99/month.
Peacock works on Smart TVs, Roku, Apple TV, Fire Stick, iPhones, Android phones, and web browsers. If you already have a supported Smart TV, you may be able to download the Peacock app for free directly on the TV.
One popular feature: Peacock often streams live local NBC content, which is great if your antenna reception is weak or you do not have cable.
