Sign up for Max

Go to max.com on any device or download the Max app from the App Store (iPhone/iPad) or Google Play Store (Android). Click "Sign Up" and choose a plan. The ad-supported plan at ~$9.99/month is a good starting point. Enter your email address and create a password. Add a payment method. If you have HBO through cable or satellite, click "Sign in with TV Provider" and choose your provider — you can log in without paying extra.

Navigate Max to find shows and movies

Create profiles for different household members

Max allows up to 3 or 5 profiles (depending on plan). Each profile has its own watch history and recommendations. To add a profile: click your profile picture at the top right → "Add Profile" → enter a name. You can also set a Kids Mode on a profile, which restricts content to child-appropriate titles. Different people in your household can have their own viewing experience without affecting each other's recommendations.

Download shows for offline viewing

On the Max app (phone or tablet), you can download select shows and movies to watch later without an internet connection — useful for travel or areas with weak signal. Look for a download icon (arrow pointing down) on eligible titles. Downloads are stored on your device and available in the "Downloads" section of the app. This feature is available on the ad-free plan only.
