How to Use and Customize iPhone Control Center

Control Center is a quick-access panel for iPhone settings and tools. You can customize it to include the controls you use most.

    1

    Open Control Center

    ~15s
On an iPhone without a Home button (iPhone X and newer): swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen. On an iPhone with a Home button: swipe up from the very bottom edge of the screen. The Control Center panel appears.
    2

    Use the main controls

    ~23s
The standard controls are: the top-left cluster handles network connections (Airplane mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular); the flashlight icon toggles your camera flash; the camera icon opens the camera; the moon/crescent icon toggles Do Not Disturb; the brightness and volume sliders control those settings.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: Press and hold (long press) the brightness bar to see Night Shift and True Tone options. Long press the volume slider to see music controls.

    3

    Customize your Control Center

    ~16s
Go to Settings > Control Center. Scroll down to see "More Controls" — a list of every control you can add. Tap the green "+" button next to any control to add it. Useful additions: Screen Recording, Magnifier, Text Size, Low Power Mode, Accessibility Shortcuts, Timer, Notes, Calculator.
    4

    Reorder your controls

    ~15s
On the Control Center settings page, press and hold the three horizontal lines (grab handle) on the right side of any control and drag it up or down to reorder. Your most-used controls should be at the top so they appear prominently in Control Center.
    5

    Remove controls you don't use

    ~15s
On the same Control Center settings page, tap the red "–" button on the left side of any control, then tap "Remove" to delete it from your Control Center. Removing clutter makes it faster to find what you need.

Control Center is a panel that appears when you swipe down from the top-right corner of your iPhone screen. It gives you instant access to frequently used settings without navigating through menus: Wi-Fi on/off, Bluetooth, brightness, volume, flashlight, camera, Do Not Disturb, and more.

What many people don't know is that Control Center is fully customizable. You can add controls you use often — like the screen recorder, text size, a magnifier, low power mode, or accessibility shortcuts — and remove controls you never use. This makes your Control Center exactly as useful as possible for you specifically.
