How to Find Your WiFi Password on Any Device

Forgot your WiFi password? Here's how to look it up on your iPhone, Android phone, Windows computer, or directly on your router.

    1

Find it on an iPhone (iOS 16 or later)

    ~31s
Go to SettingsWi-Fi. Look for the network you're currently connected to (it will have a checkmark next to it). Tap the small "i" icon in a circle to the right of the network name. On the next screen, look for the "Password" field — it will show dots. Tap on the dots and use Face ID or Touch ID to reveal the full password.

    Quick Tip

This method only works on iPhones running iOS 16 or later. If you have an older iPhone, try the router sticker method in Step 4.

    2

Find it on an Android phone

    ~31s
Go to SettingsWi-Fi (or ConnectionsWi-Fi on Samsung phones). Tap the name of the WiFi network you're currently connected to. Look for a "Share" button — it will show a QR code along with the password written out in plain text below the QR code. If you don't see the password, tap the eye icon next to the password field to reveal it.

    Quick Tip

On Samsung Galaxy phones, you may need to tap the three-dot menu in the top right of the Wi-Fi screen and choose "QR code" to find the password.

    3

Find it on a Windows computer

    ~19s
Click the Start button (Windows icon) and type "Network Status" in the search bar. Open the Network Status settings. Click "Properties" next to your current WiFi connection. Scroll down to find the "Network security key" field — the password will appear as dots. Click the eye icon next to it to reveal the actual password.
    4

Check the sticker on your router

    ~38s
If none of the above worked, look at the physical router (the box that creates your WiFi). On most routers, there's a sticker on the back or bottom that shows the default WiFi network name (SSID) and password. The password may be labeled "WPA Key," "Wireless Password," "Network Key," or similar. If you've never changed the router password, this sticker password will still work.

    Quick Tip

If someone previously changed your router password and you can't find it anywhere, you can reset the router to factory settings by pressing and holding the small Reset button on the back for 30 seconds. This restores the original password from the sticker, but also disconnects all your devices — they'll need to reconnect.
