How to Save and Organize Website Bookmarks

Save your favorite websites as bookmarks so you can find them again in one click — and organize them into folders to stay tidy.

    1

    Bookmark a page in Chrome

    ~15s
Navigate to the website you want to save. Click the star icon at the right end of the address bar. A small window will appear asking you to confirm — you can change the name if you want. Click "Done" to save the bookmark.
    2

    Bookmark a page in Safari

    ~15s
In Safari on iPhone or iPad, tap the Share button (a square with an arrow pointing up) at the bottom of the screen. Scroll through the options and tap "Add Bookmark." Confirm the name and tap "Save."
    3

    Access your bookmarks

    ~15s
In Chrome, click the three vertical dots (menu) in the upper right corner and hover over "Bookmarks" to see your saved sites. In Safari on iPhone, tap the open book icon at the bottom of the screen.
    4

    Create a bookmarks folder

    ~15s
In Chrome, click the three dots > Bookmarks > Bookmark Manager. Right-click in the panel and select "Add new folder." Name the folder and then drag bookmarks into it. In Safari on Mac, go to Bookmarks > Edit Bookmarks to organize.
    5

    Show the bookmarks bar

    ~15s
In Chrome on a computer, press Ctrl+Shift+B (Windows) or +Shift+B (Mac) to show a row of bookmarks just below the address bar. This makes your most-visited sites visible at all times for quick access.

A bookmark is a saved shortcut to a website — like putting a physical bookmark in a book so you can return to that page without searching for it again. All web browsers let you save bookmarks with one or two clicks. Once saved, your bookmarks appear in a menu or bar that you can reach from anywhere in the browser, so you can jump to your favorite news site, your bank's website, or a recipe blog with a single click.

Organizing bookmarks into folders helps when you have many saved sites. You might create folders like "News," "Banking," "Recipes," and "Family" to keep things sorted. Most browsers also sync your bookmarks across your devices when you are signed in — so bookmarks you add on your computer will also appear on your phone.

If you lose your bookmarks (for example, after a computer issue or switching to a new device), you can often recover them by signing into your browser account — Google account for Chrome, Apple ID for Safari.
