Sign up with your library card

    ~31s
Go to hoopladigital.com in your web browser or download the Hoopla Digital app from the App Store or Google Play. Click "Sign Up" and enter your email address to create a free account. When prompted, search for your library by name or zip code. Select your library and enter your library card number to verify your membership. Some libraries also require your PIN, which is usually the last four digits of your phone number unless you have changed it.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: Not sure if your library participates? Search for your library name at hoopladigital.com/libraries to check.

    Browse by content type

    ~21s
After signing in, you will see the main Hoopla home screen with featured content. Use the tabs or menu to filter by type: Movies, TV, Music, Comics, Audiobooks, or eBooks. Each section has its own browse categories. The Movies section lets you filter by genre, release decade, and rating. The Comics section has superhero collections, graphic novels, manga, and independent comics sorted by publisher.

    Borrow and start immediately

    ~21s
Tap on any title you want and then tap the "Borrow" button. Hoopla will immediately start playing, streaming, or loading the content — no waiting required. A countdown at the top of your library account will show how many of your monthly borrows you have remaining. Movies and TV episodes are typically available for 72 hours after borrowing. Music and comics have longer loan periods.

Try a BingePass for full TV seasons

    ~31s
On the home screen or in the TV section, look for titles or banners labeled "BingePass." Tap one to see what it includes. A single BingePass borrow often unlocks access to a full season of a show, an entire publisher's collection, or a curated library bundle — all for one borrow against your monthly limit. This is a great value if you want to work through a whole season of a classic TV series.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: BingePass collections change periodically. Check the Hoopla home screen regularly to see what new BingePass options have been added.

    5

    Download content for offline use

    ~24s
Tap on any title you have borrowed and look for the download icon (an arrow pointing down). Tap it to save the content to your phone or tablet. Downloaded content is available even when you do not have internet access, which is useful for travel or areas with poor signal. Downloading counts as one of your monthly borrows. Downloads expire automatically when the loan period ends, and the file removes itself from your device.

Hoopla is a free digital library service that works differently from Libby in one important way: there are no waiting lists. Whatever content is available in Hoopla's catalog, you can access it the moment you want it. No holds, no waiting — borrow and start watching, listening, or reading right away.

Like Libby, Hoopla is completely free for anyone with a public library card from a participating library. You connect your library card to your Hoopla account, and the library pays for your borrows on a per-use basis.

Hoopla has a much broader content mix than most people expect. It includes movies, TV shows, music albums, comic books, graphic novels, manga, ebooks, and audiobooks. The movie selection focuses more on classic films, independent releases, and older titles rather than brand-new blockbusters, but there is a large catalog to explore.

One feature that sets Hoopla apart is BingePass. Certain TV show publishers offer BingePass options, which means you can use one borrow to unlock access to an entire season or a large collection of content from that publisher, rather than counting each episode as a separate borrow.

Most libraries set a monthly borrow limit for Hoopla — typically around 10 borrows per month. This resets on the first of each month. Each movie, album, or book you access counts as one borrow. Downloads for offline viewing also count as a borrow and expire after the loan period.

The Hoopla app is available on iPhone, Android, Kindle Fire, Roku, Apple TV, Chromecast, and most smart TVs, so you can watch on your big screen at home.
