    Download and Open Google Keep

    ~19s
On Android, search "Google Keep" in the Google Play Store and install it. On iPhone or iPad, search "Google Keep" in the App Store. On a computer, go to keep.google.com in any browser. Sign in with your Google account.

    Quick Tip

Google Keep may already be installed on Android phones — look for the yellow lightbulb icon.

    2

    Create Your First Note

    ~15s
Tap the "Take a note…" bar at the bottom of the screen. Type your note. When done, tap the back arrow or swipe down to save. The note appears on your board automatically.
    3

Make a Checklist (Perfect for Grocery Lists)

    ~25s
Tap the checkboxes icon at the bottom of the screen (it looks like a list with check marks). Type your first item and press Enter to add the next. As you shop, tap each checkbox to check items off. Checked items move to the bottom so you can see what's left.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: Share a checklist with a family member by tapping the three-dot menu on the note, then "Collaborator," and entering their Gmail address.

    4

    Add a Reminder

    ~15s
Open any note and tap the bell icon at the top. Choose a date and time for the reminder, or pick a location (like "when I arrive at the grocery store"). Google Keep will notify you at exactly the right moment.
    5

    Organize with Colors and Labels

    ~15s
On any note, tap the three-dot menu (⋮) and choose a color to color-code it. To add a label, tap "Add label" in the same menu and type or choose a label name. Then use the left sidebar to filter notes by label.
    6

Access Your Notes on Any Device

    ~15s
Your notes sync automatically whenever you are connected to the internet. Open keep.google.com on any computer to see the same notes. Changes you make on one device show up on all the others within seconds.

Google Keep is Google's free note-taking app — think of it as a digital sticky note board that you can access from your phone, tablet, or computer. It syncs automatically, so a note you write on your phone shows up on your computer and vice versa.

Keep is great for grocery lists, reminders, ideas, and anything you want to capture quickly. You can add color to notes to organize them, pin important ones to the top, and even set location-based reminders (for example, remind me to pick up milk when I arrive at the grocery store).

The app works on Android phones and tablets, iPhone, iPad, and any web browser at keep.google.com. You only need a free Google account to get started.

One of Keep's best features is voice notes — tap the microphone button and speak your thought. Keep transcribes it automatically. You can also take a photo of a handwritten note and Keep will try to recognize the text so you can search it later.

Labels work like folders — you can create labels for "Shopping," "Medical," "Home Projects," or anything else, then filter your notes by label. This keeps your board tidy even as notes pile up.

Keep also lets you share notes with another person. Great for collaborative shopping lists with a spouse or partner: both of you can add items and check them off in real time.
