    How to Set Up Find My iPhone Safely

    Turn on Find My iPhone so you can locate, lock, or erase your phone if it is ever lost or stolen.

    In this guide (5 steps):

    1. 1.Open Settings and tap your name
    2. 2.Tap Find My
    3. 3.Turn on Find My iPhone
    4. 4.Turn on Share My Location (optional)
    5. 5.Test it from another device

    Open Settings and tap your name

    Open the Settings app and tap your name at the very top of the screen. This opens your Apple ID settings.

    Tap Find My

    Scroll down and tap Find My. This is where all the lost-phone settings live.

    Turn on Find My iPhone

    Tap Find My iPhone and flip the main switch on. Also turn on "Find My network" so your phone can be located even when it is offline, and "Send Last Location" so it sends its spot when the battery is low.

    Turn on Share My Location (optional)

    Go back to the Find My settings and turn on Share My Location if you want a family member to help find it. You can pick specific people to share with.

    Test it from another device

    On another phone or a computer, go to icloud.com/find and sign in with your Apple ID. You should see your iPhone on a map. If that works, you are all set.
