Many modern hearing aids connect to your phone via Bluetooth. This lets you stream phone calls, music, podcasts, and other audio directly to your hearing aids — like wireless earbuds designed for your hearing needs. You can also use your phone as a remote control to adjust volume and settings.

First, check if your hearing aids support Bluetooth. Most hearing aids made after 2018 from brands like Phonak, Oticon, ReSound, Signia, Starkey, and Widex include Bluetooth connectivity. Ask your audiologist or check the manufacturer's website.

On iPhone: iPhones have built-in support for "Made for iPhone" hearing aids. Go to Settings → Accessibility → Hearing Devices. Put your hearing aids in pairing mode (usually by opening and closing the battery door, or following the instructions from your hearing aid brand). Your iPhone will detect them — tap to pair.

On Android: go to Settings → Connected Devices → Pair New Device. Put your hearing aids in pairing mode. They should appear in the list. For ASHA (Audio Streaming for Hearing Aids) compatible hearing aids and Android phones, go to Settings → Accessibility → Hearing Devices.

Many hearing aid manufacturers also have companion apps (Phonak myPhonak, Oticon ON, ReSound Smart 3D) that offer additional controls: adjusting bass and treble, creating custom listening programs for different environments, and locating lost hearing aids.

If you have trouble pairing, make sure your hearing aids have fresh batteries (or are charged), your phone's Bluetooth is turned on, and you are within 3 feet of your phone during pairing.
