    Call the First Person

    ~15s
Open the Phone app and call the first person. Wait for them to answer. Have a brief conversation or let them know you are going to add someone.
    2

Put the First Call on Hold and Add a Call

    ~26s
While on the call, look for an "Add call" button (a small + icon or phone with + symbol). Tap it. The first caller is put on hold and your dial pad appears. Dial the second person's number or find them in contacts.

    Quick Tip

Quick Tip: On Samsung phones, tap the three-dot menu (⋮) during a call to see more options including "Add call" if you do not see it on the main screen.

    3

Wait for Person Two to Answer

    ~15s
Your call to person two rings. When they pick up, you are in a call with them while person one waits on hold. You can see both calls listed on screen — the active one and the one on hold.
    4

    Merge the Calls

    ~15s
Look for a "Merge" button or a conference call icon (three person icons connected). Tap it. Both calls combine. All three people can now hear and speak with each other. The screen shows "Conference call" with both names listed.
    5

    Manage and End the Conference

    ~24s
While in a conference call, you can tap "Manage" or a similar option to see all participants. From there, drop a specific participant by tapping End next to their name. To end the whole conference, tap the red End Call button — this disconnects everyone. To leave while letting others continue talking, you may need to hand off the host role (not all carriers support this on the standard phone network).

Making a three-way conference call on Android works similarly to iPhone — you call the first person, add a second call, and then merge them together. The feature is built into the standard Phone app and works on Samsung, Google Pixel, Motorola, and most other Android phones.

The exact layout of on-screen buttons varies slightly by phone brand and Android version, but the steps are the same. Look for "Add call," call person two, then find "Merge" or "Conference."

Most US carriers support up to 5 people in a conference call through the Phone app. Some prepaid plans limit this feature — if you do not see a Merge button, check with your carrier.

For unlimited participants without carrier restrictions, use Google Meet, Zoom, or FaceTime instead. But for a quick impromptu three-way call with family or colleagues, the built-in conference call feature is fast and needs no app or account.

Samsung phones have a slightly different interface where the merge option may appear as "Merge" or a conference icon. Pixel phones show a "Merge" button prominently. Both work the same way.
