Google Chrome is the most widely used browser on Android phones. While most people use it just for browsing, Chrome on Android has several features that make reading, saving, and organizing web content much easier.
Reading list
: Save articles to read later without needing a separate app. In any article, tap the bookmark icon (star) → "Reading list." Access your saved articles by tapping the three dots (⋮) → Bookmarks → Reading List.
Reader mode
: For cluttered websites with lots of ads, tap the book icon in the address bar (appears on supported sites) to switch to a clean reading view with just the article text and images.
Move the address bar to the bottom
: Go to chrome://flags in the address bar → search "Address bar" → enable "Chrome Home" or "Bottom Omnibox." Now the address bar sits at the bottom, making it easier to reach with one thumb.
Tab groups
: When you have many tabs open, long-press a tab thumbnail → "Add tab to group." Organize tabs by topic — news, shopping, recipes — to reduce clutter.
Cast a tab to your TV
: If you have a Chromecast or Google TV, tap the three dots → "Cast." Your current Chrome tab streams to the TV — great for sharing a website, video, or article on a large screen.
Data Saver
: Go to Settings → "Lite mode" to compress web pages and save mobile data. Useful if you have a limited data plan.
