Android's Battery Saver mode works similarly to iPhone's Low Power Mode — it reduces background activity, limits some features, and slows down certain processes to stretch your battery through a long day.
When Battery Saver is on, Android reduces or pauses: background app syncing, location services for apps not in use, some visual animations and effects, automatic email checking, and some performance-intensive processes. The phone's screen may also dim slightly more aggressively.
Apps you actively use keep working. You can still make calls, send texts, browse the web, and use any app normally — Battery Saver mostly affects what happens behind the scenes.
Battery Saver can be turned on manually at any time, or set to turn on automatically when battery drops to a level you choose (commonly 15–20%). This automatic option is useful so you never get caught off guard with a dying phone.
Different Android phone brands call this feature slightly different things. Samsung calls it "Power saving mode." Pixel phones call it "Battery Saver." Other brands may say "Ultra Power Saving" or "Power Conservation." The concept is the same on all of them.
